We had an 8 footer pull us around the lake for a while before he got tired enough to pull in. we fought him for a good 2 hours trying to get him out of the hole.
Here is the hole he was hiding in. You see the line the guy is holding going into the hole. The gator is on the other end

Gator Season Expected to Measure up Well

Louisiana has so many alligators that state Wildlife and Fisheries officials have increased the number of tags for hunters by 17 percent.
The department's alligator program manager, Noel Kinler, says he expects 34,000 to 35,000 alligators to be harvested this year.
Kinler says last year's numbers were down because of drought and lingering effects of hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005. But he says the weather has been more normal, and 'gators have rebounded.
Alligator hunting season technically lasts about a month, but most trappers catch their allowance within the first week or two.
The season opened August 29th.

My buddy grabbed one a few years back. However, he didn't use a gun right off the bat. He used a hook and line just like you guys did, but then wrestled the bastard and duct taped him. Shot him with a .45 when he got home later on.
