I did not have to drop mine but I had my exaust built localy so I am not sure what you will need to do. If you dont I would make sure that the exaust was cool because you will be working all around it.

This is also a quick and sleazy way to change a torque converter. I am just trying to make life a little easier.

fair enough, it sounds like a great idea. I just didn't know 3/8" all thread would work on the metric bolt holes. You should post that idea up in the "tips and tricks" thread

I am thinking that thread pitch is 10 mm X 1.5 mm, you can screw in a 3/8 X 16 but the thread is not perfect.. it is close but can screw up the threads if forced...

I know it works as I had to do it 2 weekends ago. I got my truck all buttoned up and ready to fire except for bolting the TQ converter to the flywheel. I go down there to do this only to realize that the machine shop had mounted the flywheel backwards. I was all ready to ****** the trans out but a friend of mine showed me this trick, In about an hour with an adiquate amount of beer and BS The fly wheel was all bolted up. Certainly would have taken longer than that to pull and re install the trans.

I think my trans has won in your truck. Rear end, motor, drive shaft, and TC. Tranny 4&0. Truck 0&4.

All the threads going into the block on yours are still std. But all the accessories etc. are metric. GM didn't change their tooling on those blocks. The big kicker is the bolts on the bellhousing which have studs on the end will be std on block side and metric threads on the accessory side.

Beer always make a project go together better
