Tested the ole .270 out Saturday
Finally got a pretty day Saturday so i went out to my buddys farm. Took several of my rifles to check zero.
I got this Remington 700 .270 in November of 08 and it sat in my safe while i waited for the Millett TRS scopes to get off backorder. Got the scope in July and sighted it in with 130gr corelokts. Havent shot it since then so i set up paper at 100 to see where it was shooting with some 110gr Vmax.
4" high and 3 shots touching each other. From there i set the target at 500yds just to see if the 110s would lob out that far.
my knife shows where the bullet hit the dirt. I had my cross hairs at the top of the paper so thats 6.75" hold over.
You can see where the bullet hit the 4x4 to the left of center.
Moved the target back to 400yds and first shot hit the orange, low left.
Second shot hit in the orange also, high right.
I was excited, i actually could hit something when i tried, not once, but twice.
These were just some loads i threw together just to go shoot, so hopefully with some tweaking it will get better.
The wind was killing me all day, i was watching the mirage and when it settled and rose straight up i would take a shot.
While i was letting the .270 cool off i got out my 16" AR-15 and some .223 55gr Vmax loads.
First 3 shots were in one hole all touching.
I got even more excited so i put the AR aside and got my .22-250 out.
The 3 shots at the lower right were from the .22-250 with a 4th shot being a flier up to the high left in the pic above..
Next is getting around to zeroing them at 200yds. Hopefully this saturday.

looks like fun! I cant wait for the weather to warm up here so I can get out and shoot again!
Those 22-250's and .270's are a lot of fun to shoot with!
Hard to beat a good .223 round though!
You shoot any big cal's (.300, 7 mil, etc...)?
