Man I loved watching that guy, it's a shame what happened was such a freak accident. I agree at least he died doing what he loved....my condolences to his wife and two kids....

How sad..

Sting rays have poison in there stingers. It's very painful if you get stung by one.. Normally they don't even pay you any attention when your diving. He was probably over top of it and startled it..

How does that work speedy? Seriously, does the ray back into you at sonic speeds or does it whip you?

I dont know everything about rays, but seing as how th ebarb is on/in the end of their tail, Im guessing thes swing it into you similar to a scorpion

The stingrays tail acts like a whip.. If you step on one it will whip it's tail around and sting you.. It has a barb in the the tail like this pic.
