Is this an actual event or just a TNT where a lot of trucks will be there? Regardless, sounds like a lot of fun and I have put it on my calendar.

Ok so, a few of us got to talking on another thread about a Lightning event at a southern track. I chimed in knowing some of the good folks at South Georgia Motorsports Park (Valdosta Ga.) and offered to help organize such an event. I also proposed we do it as an all truck event and have the competetion come out and play.

So here's the idea. This thread is to see if there is actually enough interest to do it.

December 11, 2010 with several classes. Kinda want some input on what everyone wants for classes. Keep in mind, this will be to have fun. I'm not a big bracket racer at all but, if we want a bracket class and there are enough participants, we will have it.

So with those few details, how much interest is there for this?

southern truck shootout
south georgia motorsorts park www.racesgmp.com
december 11, 2010 gates open at 10am
classes tba

ok folks, had a meeting with the facilities manager at sgmp in valdosta tonight and he is all for the truck shootout! The date is set for december 11, 2010. For this first year, we are running the event on a test and tune. Don't let that concern you as we talked intensively about sponsor paricipation and making the event as formal as any other track event. They run events there all the time in conjunction with test and tunes so no worries!

As for the classes and organization details, please stay tuned to what is coming. We went over some ideas tonight to try and make this an event to remember but still have tons of details hash out. I can tell you there will be several classes that are mostly planned for heads up racing, a class for the diesel folks, and a car show for the folks that just want to show off thier stuff.

If you have any questions or suggestions for the even, please pm me or shoot me an email to brickrocket@bellsouth.net

From what I've heard they are pretty strict.

Hmm... sounds like we need to get some clarification from the track or event coordinator before we travel and not be able to participate.

Dave, you going to try to make it down for this?
