Haha, Oldman already knows about this..
My brother just got thru putting his 355 back together for his mud truck.
new bearings and the heads got a good working over.
Well after he got the motor back in the truck and could ever get it to pull hardly any vacuum at Idle or keep the valves adjusted..
Looky looky

Somebody want a good cam? its a multiduration/lift cam

Found out where the missing parts of the lifters and cam went..... To the oil pan.. Nice thick paste in the bottom.

Maybe he can get it running and stay running this time....

my gosh.. Ive actually ran mixed matched lifters with a solid lift cam before and no problems. how was the cam broke in? every time i broke in a cam i would set the idle to 2k and let it idle for 30 mins. ive broke in 8-9 cams like that for my dirt track cars

Got the heads worked over with new springs and valves, put it all back together and after one day of breaking everything in and gettin the carb setup he noticed he couldnt keep the rockers lashed.
Pulled the lifters and found 2 collapsed and the bowl on the end of them

so we pulled the cam and found the damage.

a friend of mine just had a the same thing happen to his fresh 383, multiple shops have said it has to do with the way oil is being manufactured now that is causing that to happen, you need to do the break in and first couple of oil changes with expensive oil (some **** that is like $8.00/qt) it is becoming pretty common with fresh engines
