sounds bout like out local parts stores. u could ask for some teflon tape and they would ask what year, make and model. i had a good one while back. i asked the kid at the counter for a fuel filter for my Lightning. he told me 70 bucks. i told him i said fuel filter not pump son, he said but thats what comp says. i just left there and went to ford place for 10 bucks and got me one. Only decent place we got for a parts house is napa and most of them have been there for years and know what they are talkin bout.

I just love it when I ask them for something simple like a light bulb and they want to know if it is a 4x4...lol

What the hell difference does it make they all take the same light bulbs just pick one.

Just today I was in O'Rielly and it took the dude 15 minutes to get me a freakin' differental cover gasket for a FRONT DANA 60 axle. This was after he brought me two different gaskets for two completely different REAR axles, and after he brought me a gasket for a completetly different part. Next time, I will get mean.

Eh, I managed a few Advance Auto Parts stores for a few years....from the day I started there I knew more thn everyone else, and when I left as a store manager I still did...would I make good $$ being a mechanic?? NOPE! I am horrible at turning the wrenches, and would prefer to let someone else do the work for me MOST of the time!

Being good at parts does NOT make you a good mechanic

No it doesn't, and not everyone wants to turn wrenches. But from what Ive seen, most that know their *** from a hole in the ground enjoy turning wrenches and could make a better living as a mechanic. Not all though
