A buddy at work asked me if anyone in the Houston area rents engine stands and engine hoists? He's looking to do and engine swap in his Jeep and doesn't want to go out an buy them.

You can buy an engine stand from just about any auto parts store for like $40.

 

I saw Harbor Freight is running their engine hoist on special now for around $130 and engine stands are always $30 or less. My hoist does fine. Used it many times in the past 3 years and it folds up and fits in a 2' x 2' corner.

 

Thanks for the help guys. He's going to buy an engine stand and then when he gets ready for the swap, he's close to Tomball Rentals for the engine hoist.

 

Try Craigslist.org , I see used engine stands on there all the time for $20.

 

I bought mine new for $30 at the flea market in Pearland
