Default Canadian athlete of the year....

guy names Terry, wakes up at 5am to run 12 miles in the morning then 14miles in the afternoon. called the marathon of hope. this guy ran a marathon EVERY SINGLE DAY not to mention the fact he is doing it on artificial leg. he would run up and down the highway for donations, in the beginning donations were sparse but as people got to know him, he got to introduce a CFL football game. he wants to raise one dollar for every canadian (24million dollars in 1980) for cancer and children and stuff. what a bad ***. Terry fox is the man. only took 4 days off in 137 day to swim with this kid that had cancel. September 1, 1980, he asked to be taken to the hospital. He had 2 tumors in his lungs (golfballl and tennis ball sized) which he ran 36xx miles with over the past half yearish. impromptu telethon came and raised another 10 million while he was in the hospital. his only regret was that he raised millions of dollars, but didnt have a penny to buy his family a christmas gift. died June 22, 1981.

heard it on sports center, thought i'd share his story

since his death, the Terry Fox Foundation has raised nearly 360 million dollars for cancer research
