Default 17" tire sizes...

I was originally going to get some new tires for my 16" Tahoe wheels that I have been running for a while now... until... my brother calls me up and asks me if I want the wheels off his truck. (06 CCSB LT3) Its the 5 spoke 17" stock aluminum wheels... I have been looking for a set for a while now and these kinda fell into my lap.

Problem is, I have no idea what size tires to get for them. The stock tires on there now are shot so instead of him just buying new tires, he got a set of takeoffs from an '07 or '08 truck. The look nice. Anyway...

You guys who have run this rim with a drop, what tire size did you use?? Stew? I know you had them for a while... I was thinking about some 285/60's or some 275/60's... I have 255/65-16's now and I'm trying to get more tire under the truck, all the way around... I'm really sick of looking at the donuts every day...

Ben, looks like a 275/55 may be your best bet. Those wheels are going to look a ton better than your ugly *** wheels now.

I'm thinking 285/60's after looking at a calculator... I have the gear and converter to turn a 30.5" tire so I'll be fine... plus it will help some on the hwy. I really want to fill the wheel wells and finally have some tire under the *** of this thing like it needs... Found a place to get the Toyo's and Hankook's fairly cheap. Any other tire suggestions??

275/60 is what Stew was running and that's what I had also. 285/60 is too much tire IMO.

I have the stock rims from an '07 and I'm putting the Hankook Ventus ST 255/50/17's on them. So they'll be a complete set balanced too. The tires maybe have 10k mi on them.

That would probably be too short of a tire... l have the 245/70's all the way around right now. I put the wheels on last night and they are the height I'm looking for, I just want more width. The 275/60's should do the trick... if they arent enough, I'll put some 285/60's just on the back and stagger them.... The wheels cleaned up just about perfect though. They were filthy on my brother's truck LOL
