What are the steps for joining pt.net?

Seeing alot of bullshit advertisements in threads these days. My biggest pet peeve is exactly that, and adware. They wouldn't do it if no one supported it. But in the computer world we all know the numbers are what make it irresistable. They can easily send 100 million emails with hardly any costs and all it takes is 10 people to answer to cover overhead.
I joined in 2004, i don't remember, do we have a system for keeping at automatic programs for registering? If not, that would be a great investment. However, by some of these names almost appears it is a human filling them out. ARGHGHGHGHGH

I don't remember back to 2001 when I joined....that is WAY to much to ask of my memory. 
I will ask Brains about the registration procedure. I THINK you have to fill that box in so "bots" can't register.
