Default post count

How does your method of count of posts work.. every other vb message board or forum I go to every post I make if it is a bump or not is counted. In the last day I haven't seen my count go up 1 click and I posted 4 times.

This has been verified by logging in though a whole other pc and connection as well.

Also.. when mods wipe out edit and delete your post or thread here.. are you wiping it out totally of the DB? if so.. you are hurting post counts of members..
At other forums they just move them to an admin only area then the user doesn't loose his post and if you have a problem with him later you can bring the info back up.

Just trying to find out some info here I am trying to be a good contributing member here and trying to figure out what this site does.

I think, (but not sure) post made in the classifieds do not show up on your count. All other posts should.

Yes posts made in the classifieds and SSU sections do not count. I have seen my post deleted and it does not affect my post count.

As said above, those sections don't count.

As for post deletes.... Usually we soft delete them, but sometimes they will get deleted all together. Remember, we Mod in our free time. I know I've deleted in a hurry a few times. Post count is pretty much irrelavant anyway once you're past 50.

hmmm, would this be why my post count jumps up and down? do posts in the classies show up at first then get retracted from post count? and sometimes ill make a few posts (in other sections) and my count wont go up for a few doays then it will jump by 4 or so. im on dial up but it shouldnt lag that much should it? (before i catch crap from the dial up comment yes it was a joke)

No post are ever completely "physically removed". If a post is deleted it is soft deleted. Complete threads(like spammer threads) are moved to a special section like you mentioned.

The classifieds sections don't count towards your post count but, all the rest do. I have got PM's from other people that said their post count wasn't moving when they posted but, it would eventually go up. I'm sure it has something to do with the database updating but, that is not my department. I did just find one section with post counts turned off that wasn't supposed to be so some of you might get a little jump when the database catches back up.
