good choice with the auto.

on the 4pin or 7pin, the trucks with factory trailering packages, have a 7pin, which is used mostly on larger trailers with a 2 5/16" ball and up. the 4pin is used on smaller trailers and there is an adapter made to go from the 7pin to 4pin.

my dad has a 7'x12' enclosed utility trailer that has the 2 5/16" ball w/ 7pin and also has a 16ft. flatbed trailer with a 2" ball w/ 4pin

i dont think the rst has the tow package that includes the 7pin so if you have a 7pin trailer it might not work.

7pin harness is usually for trailers with electric trailer brakes

the rst dose come in a ext they made some of them back in 03 and 04 if you can get on that is if some one is willing to give on up (people tend to like them). the jgp comes in both also but are easier to find a ext. some of them even have the sc. and that is always fun. the ss is also in the mix i see and that if a great truck for towing and with the help of a turbo or a sc you will be happy. now for the towing of the rst you do not want to buy a hitch that hangs down on the bump it will look like **** go with a hidden hitch behing the plate might have to cut a little but is well worth it. since the are lowered you lose a little bit of towing capability you know that with n e thing that you lower unless you set it up to tow after. the jgp is kinda in the same boat as far as lower but not really plus the back end is stock so a normal hitch will be ok. it all comes down to what you want 5 speed or auto singal or ext then you go from there all of them should do the job just some will do it better the way you bought it and you will not have to add n e extras to help. good luck hope this helped
