This is the only tranny offered in the trucks, and you can only get it with the 4.8L engine. When they designed these trucks, I am pretty sure they were not thinking about the dragstrip. They probably were thinking more about trips to the dumps....

The good thing is that it makes a t56 swap pretty easy in these trucks because they are already set up for a manual.

When I said trusty I was being 100% sarcastic. lol. I'm on my second one and the only reason another one went in is becuase it was covered under warranty.

+ 1 more to the T-56 swap..
i haven't looked into it, but to be honest i wouldn't be surprised if it was the same tranny used with the v6's..cuz mine is poopy as all get out and sounds like i have a whipple under the hood when i get on it..

I've got a 4.3 and a 5-speed I ran at the track and I can tell you first gear is worthless. Yet 2nd is to tall for the V6 to pull well.

My only beef with the T56 is that the damn shifter ends up being under the center jump seat.. The trans is so long that it moves the shifter back that much..

Sucks if you ask me..
