And the hybrid 9.5" 14 bolt in the back? I guess it could be a 6 liter with 862's on it.... but at this point it sounds like a regular Chev 1/2 ton with a Silverado SS VIN attached to it. There is a VIN number on the engine block on the drivers side at the rear of the engine. It's a machined pad facing towards the drivers inner fender just below the head. But from personal experience it is very difficult to see when in the truck....... and not much better out. I mean my LQ9 came up as a 4.8....... Lol. And no, it's a 6 liter block with flat tops and 317 heads. It's just the stamping is difficult to read......

Well guys i said **** it and took off the ps pump its a 5.3 and i believe its coil springs but does the 2wd pose to have torsion bars? Havent looked for sure butttt.. i do remember seein tow hooks hidden behind the bumper. And the vin says its a ss on a decoder website.

Now you need to figure out if its a 4.8 or 5.3. Need to check for flat top pistons or dished.
2wd SS trucks are still on torsion bars. I don't believe they ever had any on coil springs.
