anyone swapped an ls2 into silverado
Im interested in swapping an ls2 into my 04 regular cab short box. was wondering if anyone here had done this and if theres anything tricky i should know about the install. I plan on running 4 wheel drive with it. Also wonderin if maybe someone knows of any good deals on an ls2. any info would be great.

That thing is gonna be a dog without the right cam, unless you plan on keeping the truck intake on it.. LS2 is a good motor, but not known for good torque, which is what that heavy beast will need. Scoggin Dickey sells em for $5500, I think pan to intake..

I doubt it will be a dog. The Trailblazer SS has an LS2, should weight about the same as your regular cab truck. We have an LS2 with an LQ4/LQ9 intake in a 98 extended cab k1500, and the truck performs great. Getting a supercharger maybe a cheaper and easier option though. Unless your motor needs replacing anyway.

Like I said, if you plan on running an LS2 with a low-rise intake froim a GTO or Vette, you're wasting your time, your torque will be too high in the rpm band to get a heavy truck moving. With the truck intake it may be a different story, however I do know my TBSS had a dead spot at about 65mph-80mph. Why do you think they gear the TBSS so high?

Silverado SS has 4:10s. I don't know that the TB SS came with 4.10s because of the engine. I still think its a worth while upgrade if you want to do it. Even with a GTO or Vette intake its not gonna feel worse than the 5.3L. Again like I said before if your motor could use replacing go for.
You could go with a head and cam combo, but again thats mostly higher rpm power, you'd want a converter or a gear change to take advantage of that fully in a truck.
