An LS1 isn't a 6.0....

Take it to someone who knows what they're doing, or take some pictures for us. There will be a 3 digit number on the head on the passenger side. It will be towards the front of the engine and is on the front corner near the valve cover.

Not quite...

The only 6.0 ever in a corvette was the LS2 which I highly doubt this is since it wont work with your computer without an adapter.

LS1, LS6 = 5.7L
LQ4, LQ9, LS2 = 6.0
LS7 = 7.0
LS9 = 6.2

The 4.8/5.3/6.0 are generally referred to as the LS1-based engines since they are very similar. Gen3 LSx is another way to say it. The LS7, LS2, LS3, LS9 are gen4, and the LS1, and LS6 are gen3.

Forget taking it to someone. Search around on this site and find all the info you need to id the engine for yourself. That is part of what the site is for and has to offer.

I can tell you it didn't come factory in that truck, so there are two options here.

A) it was swapped in by a previous owner (somewhat unlikely)

B) the guy that told you doesn't know what he is talking about.

Take some pics and show us?

It's a 4.8/5.3, sorry.

Look at your Vin number on the truck, what is the 8th character? Also, open the glove box and look at the RPO sticker sheet, you might find an LM7 or LR4 code in there.
