So i began a great project last month. I started polishing. wheels alternator alt ps bracket and belt tensioner so far ill include a few pics of before and afters if this drums up any interest send me a pm and id be happy to discuss some services.

Dremel polishing mostly in the tight spots i didnt really work it too far in the deepest spots due to lack of dremel wheels lol. They last literally no time. Its far from perfect but it makes me smile thats all that counts i guess. I looked like a coal miner at the end of each piece. Im going one at a time on days off when i get the chance.

Ill have to make a video of my method. I use a zephyr buff and blend disc for most large initial prep. Heavy cutting etc. Then 4 steps of rouge ending with a final finish domet wheel with a blue moon rouge and a final wipe down of either pro40 polish or white diamond on cheaper parts.

things like the rough cast alt and brackets on engine im only doing 2 rouge stages after buff and blend. Followed by wipe down with purple metal polish i buy by the case.

i do this on the side as i work upward of 50 60 hrs a wk i typically do big rigs for local truckers. I have just now had the time to begin my own project

 

You poor soul to hand sand that whole jug and case you must have really WANTED IT BAD lol. But i understand thats how i started out.

i never knew the 250r was water cooled. Bad little rides though im sure it was fun. Theyve all but gone to the junkyards now. Unless someone kept them looking like yours few have survived

 

Off topic but I have an '88 250r. They're alive and well! Still a big aftermarket for them.

 

I never said they were extinct aftermarket is where many rare things exist and remain. I was pretty big on the other end of the spectrum with a 04 foreman that was 29.5 outlaw bike when that was the biggest coolest newest thing you could have. And plenty of power to turn em nitrous the works lol.

back to polishing aluminum does anyone have any intelligence regarding keeping a set of stainless headers polished. I know i can make them mirror as well ive done it once. How long does a ceramic coating last on a 5.3 eating a 150 shot of nitrous and fuel. With stock valves and exhaust ports creating a bunch of good restriction and heat soak? Do they have to be roughed up to ceramic coat?

got looking today at my total aluminum content on this truck is low altogether.
