Default 2007 Classic Cam 4.8

Truck as of now has 4.8L with 212/218/111 LSA Cam
243 Heads non ported
TSP Long Tubes with Y Pipe no cats
LS2 Timing Chain
LS6 Valve Springs
LS9 Head Gaskets
TSP Harden Push Rods
Rebuilt 4L60E Trans

This is my story so far.

2008 CBR600RR Full race exhaust and custom tune

Sold my bike and got a 2007 GMC Sierra 4.8L WT RCSB will upload pic when I take one. $7,000 121,000 miles freshly rebuilt transmission ($3,000) worth of parts put into the tranny and fake SS wheels 2/4 drop sway bars front and back other small stuff.

Needing to get my mod fix I found PT.net and somehow bought a 212/218/111 LSA cam from TSP and LS6 Springs Harden Push Rods and LS2 timing chain. I don't know how you guys talked me into it. Never done any engine work in my life I tackled it with a friend I met on here and got a tune from a local guy everything was awesome.

2 months later my truck was smoking on cold starts. 6 months from then I decide to fix it and start with new valve seals. Which should have been replaced while I was in there months ago doing the cam...

Also changed the evap solenoid. Went to the auto store to have my codes reset and "lost my tune" and got new codes for Lean in bank 1 and 2 and random misfire code. Took it to a different friend and found out the MAF sensor went out. After that was fixed he looked at all my fluids and noticed the reason why I'm writing this thread. I had coolant on my oil cap and on my dip stick.

Yeah my 706 heads cracked and are leaking coolant into my block... So now I'm going to put a new engine in my truck. Any suggestions? Going to try and find a 6.0 but where I'm from (WA) it's going to be hard. Probably have to settle for a 5.3. A part of me still wants a 4.8 it's like rooting for the under dog. Of course right before I find this out is the day my TSP long tubes show up at my door. Those will go on my new engine.

I was always the one drooling over your guys turbos or big 6.0 or built 5.3, 4.8 engines making good power. Hopefully this all works out.

Well thats a bummer...

I love seeing that youre in high spirits about it though. It's encouraging.

I'm sure the truck will come back stronger. Did you like the cam in your 4.8? You will want to step up a bit if you are going to a larger displacement engine.

Yeah it sucks but I love to tinker and build stuff so looking forward to the fun parts of it and learning more about these trucks. Any good ways to buy a bang for the buck engine online? Seems somewhat risky business but I know people do it all the time. I love that cam for that engine it is a nice subtle lobe to it. It shakes the truck a little bit in park. But when I got that tune it made it less noticeable noise wise but it woke up that engine really nice. Yeah if I get a bigger engine I'll get a bigger cam 220/220 something around there.

Put the 243 heads in and also bought a set of 2016 Sierra Denali Wheels I always wanted with some new rubber. I don't think the tuner did a good job on my tune because my truck dies when I rev it up as the rpms come back down to idle. Since my last post I put in a catch can that gave me problems for a month and also fixed some regular stuff with EVAP codes. Also my truck got hit going down the highway at about 55 mph. The lady got pushed out her lane and into mine and I tried to dodge her and half way did. Will post some pictures of the damage and new wheels.

243 Heads shipped from Houston, TX to Tacoma, WA. Wish I was in TX like most of you.

Next thing on my list is to get a new rear axle with some lower gears and disc brakes. The 3.23 in right now are killing me. I forgot to mention when the 243 heads went in I also put in Long Tube Headers from TSP with a off road Y pipe and got the truck retuned. I still am getting a random misfire code. I think I'm going to try a different tuner. After axle will probably be a 3000 stall and then TURBO. I used ARP head bolts and LS9 gaskets so I think I should be fine?

Forgot to mention I got hit going down the highway at about 55mph. The lady got pushed out of her lane and into mine. I swerved to dodge her but still got hit. I can't find any pictures of the damage but it was her plastic cross over hitting my steel beast. The plastic that got transferred onto my paint came right off with my finger nail but it did leave a half dollar dent in my passenger door which isn't a HUGE deal. I'm going to use the money we settled on without insurance on a new to me axle.
