Thumbs up For you Plasit-dip folks

I know some of you have done larger sections of your truck with this. I did my hood, it came out a little under my expectations, with some tiger striping( not sure if it was the heat or what) but it did, this wasn't my first rodeo. Any way after the stuff is set up good and dry you can take a green scuff pad, scuff it back down to even surface and texture. It will be smoother, look like black primer more less. Just thought I would share.

Pics? I'd be worried about the scuff pad going through and hitting the paint.

Thats interesting... I should look into doing that on my hood. Mine is blotchy as well... I think its damn near impossible for it not to turn out that way when youre spraying a large area with this stuff out of a can.

I'd love to see pics too.

Multiple light even layers will not produce the tiger stripes.

Most def will. Unless your in perfect conditions,. This is not paint, it is rubber for the most part. I have done a few of these, big areas will do this every time. Will try to get pics of it in a bit.

My gripe with the stuff, at least on the rims I have sprayed is it's a PITA to keep clean or looking like the day you sprayed it.

No, no it won't. I've done a few different set of wheels and an entire tailgate with no tiger stripes. This guy doesn't get any either.

PlastiDip a WHOLE CAR - How-to by DipYourCar.com - YouTube
Wheels are a cake walk... I'm only refering to large areas. He's also using a gun... completely different ball game. You are dealing with a much finer spray and a higher/ much more even pressure.

You will not be able to paint a large area from a can without ANY blochy areas showing through.
