Default Wheel Question...

Alright, 2 of my wheels are not up to my standards anymore (don't want to get into that) and I am weighing all my options. I am staying with the stingray IIIs, but may change the finish. I could just get 2 polished and be done with it, or I can get 4 polished and clear coated, or I could get 4 chrome. There is a $45 per wheel difference between polished and polished/clear coated, and a $100 per wheel difference between polished and chrome. So, what do you guys think I should do? I like the chrome or polished/clear coated route becuase I wouldn't have to polishe them, but the polished is cheaper and from what I hear, clear coated are a little dull.

How's about polished and clear-powdered? I'm thinking MIGHTY seriously about that, but don't know of any local shops...yet!

I'd say either the clearcoated or chrome; both would be fairly easy to maintain. All the Intro's I've seen clearcoated looked pretty good but they seem to have a duller finish than our Centerlines do for some reason. I'd like to see what the Centerline's would look like clearcoated since I kind of want to do this myself.

Nothing looks as good or classy as some polished billet wheels.

Nothing will make you curse as much as polishing a set of wheels.

I voted for polished and clear coated for ease of maintanence. Thats the route I plan on going when I go with some 20" Tomcats.

Personally, I hate the look of chrome wheels. It makes wheels look "cheap". I guess it depends on how you feel about maintenance. If you don't mind polishing your wheels every 2 weeks, get polished. If otherwise, get them clear coated.

I sold a set of brand new Stingrays to 04BlackSilverado who had them clear coated. There are some pics in the truck of the month thread. I'd PM him for details, if I remember correctly, he wasn't super happy. Here is a picture of the wheels as soon as he opened them after I shipped them to him.....again, I don't think he was super happy No worries, I made it right ASAP, and I don't even think he had his tires before the problem was fixed.

The champ wheel is a little different than the stingrays. I think I am just going to stay with the polished. They take a little work, well a lot, but they sure do look nice.

Yeah, there was one Champ Wheel mixed in, and since I never even took them out of the boxes, I didn't know it. I think I'd pass on the clear coating also. Polished wheels are the ****, but a bit too much work for me on a daily driver. I'm trying to find some painted SS wheels now so that I can just run them all year long. I'm tired of swapping from my 20's down to the Escalade wheels. I only get to run the 20's about 7-8 months out of the year, and then I think the truck looks crappy when I take them off. I figure the stock SS wheels would be a good choice for year round, although I doubt they will look as good as the chrome Centerlines.
