When I had my SVT Lightning people would always ask "why would you do that to a truck"? I only had engine mods and left it stock appearing. I couldnt really think of anything to say but "I didnt do anything to it, Ford made it". Sometimes I wish I was a smartass and could think of shitreal quick but it would probably only get me in trouble.

My buddy has a 2500HD 2wd thats lowered a little. Prob about the same as lowering a 1/2 ton truck about a 2/4 or so. He also has a very heavy duty helper bag setup so he can tow about whatever he wants. He has some very nice 8 lug 22's and some basic clean exterior mods but he has stacked programmers and all sorts of wild *** diesel stuff done to it so its suprisingly fast. IIRC it runs 9.90 somethings in the 1000'. A drunk redneck at the track one night asked him "Why would you be a dumbass and lower a 2500HD?" His reply "I need something to keep me occupied when Im not nailing your wife." The redneck turned and walked off.

If you saw my friend you would understand why. Hes about 6'5'', 300lbs and his shoulders are twice as wide as his waist.

My suspension is stock now, but when I talk to guys about modding a truck they ask why wouldn't you just buy a car. I just say, we'll it's a bitch putting a 450R in the back of a GTO.

I had a guy ask me where I got my body kit from when I was riding around in my STOCK GMC Typhoon. I looked at him for a good 10 seconds, light turns green and I yell out "Autozone" and floor it!!
Stupid people can't be helped!!

Me: So you pick the lifted truck and we'll race for $1000.
Random Person: Uhhhh.... Whats done to your truck.
Me: "**** eating grin" Oh not much

I know alot of lowered 2wd duramax guys that have some awesome rides and on top of that, have some stout times. But IMO if you have a trans that will handle it, you cant beat a 4wd launch!

I always found it convenient not having to lift bags of concrete and mud above my head. Or when we needed to take a large generator to a site it was just so much simpler when the tailgate was below the waist...just my .02

Oh and i didnt buy a 2wd to go offroading

My general response to the "why lower a truck?" comment is

"BECAUSE I CAN... and I enjoy answering stupid questions"

I had a kid make fun of me today for leveling my tahoe. He gave me **** for it be a "mom" car. He then continued to tell me how fast his POS 1997 dodge 2500 gasser was. He said he raced a camaro z28 with a manuel 4 speed. It had an LT1 and a 11.1 Psi turbo off a john deere tractor? They raced and he held with the "camaro" until 80 mph. haha he then continued to tell me that he was build a NOS system for the turbo and its gonna be injected right into the turbo.

God i hate stupid people

Man Im about 50/50 with the lifted diesel guys. About 50% of the time Ill run them and suprise them and about 50% of the time theyll suprise me. There are only about 4 or 5 around here that are lifted that make good power. By good I mean 700-800ftlbs or more. Alot of the time if I can hook off the jump they have a hard time pulling back up top. I think alot of it has to do with them having to build boost to turn bigger tires where as my torque hits almost instantly. I always love running them though.

Alot of the **** talkers here though are in gas burner trucks with 6" of lift, 35"s, cold air and straight pipes with a programmer and they think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. I just dont get it.

Im with you on the 4wd launch though. Ive watched numerous guys at the track launch in 4wd and its insane.
