Default What do I need to do to these wheels to paint them?

I have a set of 2004 Denali wheels, wanting to strip them - if needed. (Do these wheels have a clearcoat on them factory?) Then paint them gloss black. The caps are plastic and I'm not concerned with the prep on them. These won't be rattle-canned, I actually want the finish to last. I'm familiar with, and have the tools to spray automotive paint on them.

Thanks in advance!

Consider powdercoating.

If you really want to paint them you will need to strip them and scuff em up real good

I forget what that coating is but it is likely best to have them stripped of it. I think it's like a Vapor deposit coating process.

I'm going to scuff them with some 320, then apply aircraft stripper. See what happens.
