Spoolin- is your's fiberglass? How much does yours weigh? At 7lbs that thing would be freekin thin. Who makes it Velvet? Do ya'll know how much a stock one weighs by any chance?

Thanks...I figured that much but was under the impression that they weighed closer to 15 lbs not 7lbs.

As far as my hood it's steel and it was pretty heavy, I don't remember the exact weight but it was a little heavier than my stock one.

I am interestes in Velvets hood also, it would look killer on my Yukon. There just isnt much for aftermarket hoods on GMC's for some reason.


A couple years ago I found a company that made replacement front fenders and hoods out of carbon fiber. The fenders and hood came painted to your color and were like $1800 and weighed less than 10lbs for all of it. I wish I could find that site again, because I would buy it. Anything to get my tank under 6k would be nice.

The hood is made by Harwood but has been discontinued some years ago.

Not the best idea. Once you start making power, it is nice to beable to control it and the sway bar is a big part of that control. Trust me I know. as for the weight you will save it isnt that much that it will have a differance at the track at all. And if you are running skinnies up front, it will be hard enought to keep her straight with the sway bar there.
