I would wet sand the glass with 1000 then 1500. Then it has to be buffed/repolished with cirrium oxide. It's the only thing hard but fine enough to take out the haze and restore absolute clarity to the glass. I have a tub of it left I bought years ago during a restoration. It's like a rusty brown looking powder that you have to mix with water to a pasty consistency. Back in the day, glass shops used to use it to remove wiper blade arcs in windshields. I'd Google it and see if you can locate a source of supply. If I recall, I got mine at JC Whitney...

Mark V Products ::: Speciality Cleaners ::: Splash – Water Spot Remover 16oz

This worked great on my paint and did ok on my glass. I still haven't figured out how to totally fix the glass.

Not to long ago I was cleaning my windows getting them ready for tint. Along with wiping them I also scraped them with a razor just to make sure they were clean. On the outside I had water spots and scraped them with the razor and they came right off. It does take some time but it will get em off.

For windows, I have used vinegar with good results, or a clay bar. Compound will usually remove them, 2000/2500 sand paper will also, you just will have to polish it back out
