Default Trying Duplicolor, need some painting advice

I'm picking up some duplicolor rattle cans to colormatch my mirror caps. I sorta have an idea of how you should do this. Sand-Prime-sand-paint-wetsand clear ect.....
What grit sandpaper should I use for the different steps? Any other helpful tips? Seems simple enuff, I guess if I mess up I'll just sand them back down and take them to a pro. no worries

I got a new camera for x-mas so I'll put up some pics when I'm done

you can either use 320 or 180 to sand the caps smooth with. then prime them. then wetsand with 800 or 1000 till they are smooth again. spray a couple coats of base on. get some 1200 and run across it to get any trash out. you dont have to do it wet if you dont want. then put one more coat of base down to cover your sand scratches then spray a couple coats of clear. it should be pretty slick like that. if you want to cut it out and buff it then you need to wetsand it with 1500 to get all the orange peel out and then sand with some 2000,2500 then polish it up. good luck with it.

it is all in the prep work. i wouldnt wet sand. it is a small area, you shouldnt half too. i would say use 320 or 280 at the most to sand tem down intially. lay a coat of primmer. guide coat with some flat black then block it out with 400. then spray a couple of coats of your final. then clear. make sure you clean the surface good after your first sanding. and make sure your temps are about 80. atleast 70. good luck!!!

if you are carefull when you take them off you wont break the tabs and they will just snap back on. if you are going to use 2 sided tape then def. get 3M. also i wouldnt paint over 400 grit sand scratches because more than likely its going to show thru the paint. do your final sand over primer with at least 800 since your not going to be using sealer. take your time
