would these tires be too short for a 2/4 drop on 17" denali rims?

That tire's overall diameter is 25.66.
My buddy had those on his ECSB with 2/4 drop and was low to the ground. Had very little ground clearance. Looked good coming towards you though!

I was thinking about running them on the front since the front sits lower than the back, and getting a taller tire for the back.

It will only exaggerate the rake of the truck if you do that.

I agree, I think it would be a tad short. I run a 275/55/17 on Escalade wheels, but they would probrobally be too tall for your liking, although they are only 28.9 inches tall, which is an inch shorter than stock silverado (2wd) tires. Try something in a 275/45 (26.7 inches) or a 275/50 (27.8 inches). Here is a link to the tire calculator I use.
