Default Swap Steering Wheel

I have an 04 chevy with the radio/instrument controls in the steering wheel, but its pretty worn down. Ifound a wood grain shell of one, no airbag or buttons. I found a thread or two on how to disassemble and remove the wheel, but not how to remove all the buttons or the replacing aspect. Is this something anyone has done?

I'm about to swap mine out too and I looked into it for I have never done it on these trucks either. From what I found is the buttons come out from the front and pop in easily from the back with the steering wheels off. Don't qoute me but I'm probably going to do it this week so I can let you know afterwards...lol

Hey sorry if this is sort of off topic but would it be anywhere near possible to swap to a c6 corvette steering wheel in an 03 rcsb? Mine is all worn out and vette steering wheels are only a few hundred from the gm recycler.
