this is what I used. I used some micro machine polish first with a buffer, it think it is made by 3M. It is basically a swirl remover to get the swirl marks out and micro scratches. Then I used Mequiers Gold Class wax, in my opinion it is the best and lasts the longest. This is what I found works best for me and my truck is BLACK so it shows everything. Oh and one other thing is do not use any fabric softener on the towels/rags/bugger mits you use on your truck. The fabric softener will leave streaks.

Doing all of that makes the paint look like a mirror.

Dark colors suck to keep clean, but when they are clean they look awesome. Well they look awesome for about 20 minutes until the wind blows and gets dust on it.

if you want protection and a deep shine i would use a teflon based wax that will shine deep and protects good... thats what they probilbly tried to sell you for $300 if you baught i new.... i wouldnt wax and polish all at the same time personaly.... but if you want to just get the shine i would go with a good polishe.... either way i would pick up a orbital polisher cuz they dont spin like regular buffers so you will have less chance of swirls
