After I get get done scotch briting the mirrors to get the oils out of the plastic do I need to use an adhesion promoter before I paint??

If so is that all i need to do is sos or scotch brite them (already done) and then put down adhesion promoter, is there another step I should be taking before I spary the regular white paint??

You can that way the paint will stick well to the plastic. There is some stuff called bullyguard, bullguard...something like that. It comes in a greyish can with a bull in the front of it. it is especially made for surfaces such as the side view mirrors. I would at least throw some primer in it in order for it to stick.

Yeah that sounds about right for me. Just in that order. I have been told that it is ok to go ahead and spray with just that bully guard, but I have always primered the surface after some adhesion promoter.

also... after you apply each coat, it is not a bad idea to give it a little scuff with the scotch brite pad again. Spray the adhesion then scuff, spray the primer then scuff. And then paint away.

I did this to my grille and have had no problems, I used the promoter, primer, promoter, color coat, 2nd color coat, then a few coats of clear and it looks like I took it to a body shop and has held up nicely.
