Default Silverado lights on GMC?

I have these lights on my 02 GMC Sierra:

But I don't like the amber sections (yes i could convert them to all red but....) and really like the round sections of the all red Silverado lights I've seen:

Will the Silverado lights be a direct swap onto my Sierra both physically fit & the electrical plugs/bulbs a direct fit as well? Physically I do not see any problem but I seem to recall reading a post that said the electrical plugs are different. I can easily cut the wires & splice in the new sockets if I need to, but wanna know what I'll need while I'm at the salvage yard & not hafta make a trip back for the plugs.

I really like the Candy Red I just red about in this thread https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...do-z71-480029/ & I think I'd do that to the "new" lights before I put them in.

If you get the 03 silverado tails then it's just a matter of plugging your sockets in but if you get the 05 tails then there's an extra small bulb that your harness doesn't have so you'd have to find that harness and swap them out.

In my opinion the candied red tail lights look beter on that gen of Sierra. It harkens back to the clean look of the C/K gen silverados. Lol I have a '94 C1500 so I am partial. Just my thoughts.

What is the difference between '03 & '05 externally? And what is the extra bulb for?

Externally nothing it's just a small I believe 194 bulb and if I recall correctly it's for the turn signal. I bought some for my old 00 GMC and they were the 05's and I went to 4 different junkyards to find a harness.

194 sockets....I have a few of those already laying around on other wire harnesses. 194s for tail lights though? Pretty dang weak bulbs to use. How about '04? What year was the changeover?

The 194 is just a "secondary" blinker light. 03-04 are the same it's 05 when they added the extra bulb. Don't know if you can see the extra light at the bottom or not but they're from an 05.Name: 2C5DA801-A287-4EA0-AC66-0FDBD088BB09-3861-000003FD33D9DC3F.jpg

Gotcha. Sounds like an extra light that is basically unneeded so I probably wouldn't even bother putting one in. IMHO, the little light at the bottom looks out of place anyways.

Yeah you don't necessarily have to have a bulb in there but I'm **** about that stuff and had to find the correct harness which was pretty difficult cuz the junkyards don't believe in unhooking any connectors before ripping the beds off!!

I don't like the chevy lights at all. For me it messes up the clean lines of the bed.

I fully agree with the amber needing to dissapear though!Tinted is probably you cheapest bet.

I regularly see the lights I don't like in the clasifieds with harness. Seem them on craigslist occationaly too.
