Default Sierra RCLB...?

I was just wondering if there are any big disadvantages to having a long bed truck? I have went from a turbo mustang at 500 whp to a bone stock long bed 01 Sierra for purpose driving instead of joy driving I would like to start doing a couple mods such as long tubes, ORY, and a CAI. Eventually a stall to help get things moving a little quicker. I just don't see any long beds that are performance modded at all. Sometimes I even see 4 doors modified for the track. I think that some staggered 18's would be nice also. Please someone inform me if I am dumb for modding a long bed, thanks Justin Oh also it's a 5.3

lb's are not as highly sought after is all. more of a work truck kinda deal really.
other than being a little heavier than a sb truck though mod away.

I think I will start with the mods. I would like to be able to find a good set of wheels that will give it the street/strip look. I would love to shoot for high 13's and I'd be a happy guy.

I say mod it. I love my long box but I put a lot in it. Mainly toys, but once in a while sheet rock and lumber. The only thing I don't like is my 3/4 drop doesn't sit as low in the back as a short bed. It also hit the bump stops with about 600 lbs in it and I have them cut down to nothing. I'm thinking a C-notch.

RCLB trucks are popular for work. That does not mean they are worthless for performance however. They are basically RCSB's except for the longer wheel base and extra weight. The longer wheel base is actually an advantage for straight line performance. IMO, LB's look kinda funny at stock height. They start to look proportional when you drop or lift them.

I enjoy mine. I have 2" shackles on mine and it really helps in the looks department, but I want to go 2/4 eventually. I also think they ride better than a RCSB. There are a few guys on here with some power, as mentioned above The Breeze is one of them. I would see almost no disadvantage in a LB truck other than weight.

Thanks guys I say go for it I think the long beds hook up better due to the longer wheel base and it gives you a better ride here is a pic with a 2'' rear drop.
