Just wondering how everyone is removing these with out damaging the clear coat or even the paint? Hopin' for some help here guys!!!

 

wait for a warm day, and peel it off.

 

Use a hairdryer...start at one end...and as you heat up pull on the molding and it will come off easy, just keep inching on until the whole thing comes off, then use some sort of adhesive remover to get the gunk off. I like "De-Solve It"...works like a charm

You could even use WD40, that works great in adhesive removal. If you can't get the moulding started, use some fishing line, or twine to get underneath it.

 

I REALLY want to take off my moulding BUT I think they MIGHT be good to have to protect my doors from those soccer moms in parking lots that swing their doors open into the side of my truck!?


Have you guys that have removed the moulding had any problems with appearing door dings/dents?

 

good ? by marineblue, here's another ?, once you have it off(all the adhesive as well) Did you notice any blemishes in the paint were it was??? This is what I am most concerned about!!

 

no blemishes, and once I lowerd the truck the moulding did not make a differance with the door dings....I have a few from careless people.

 

You GMC guys should leave it because it looks great and protects from dents. I took my ugly *** unpainted Chevy molding off and replaced it with the GMC stuff and it looks better than it did with no molding in my opinion. Plus once you get one door ding you will lose sleep until you get it fixed so in my opinion GMC molding is the only way to go especially on a daily driver.

 

i took off my LS and Z71 stickers with a hairdryer too. worked fine. noticed a little color difference due to the UV light fading the rest of the truck's paint. i had a hard time getting hte adhesive off with the WD40. i tried bug and tar remover too. took a while with both. so i bought some castrol degreaser but have not tried it on the adhesive yet. only used it on removing tar. works like a charm. not supposed to use it on painted car surfaces, but i just washed it off quick with soap and water. looks good for now. i will try it when i remove my molding this summer

 

good idea if it's the chrome look-a-like stuff but not just the plain jane black plasctic molding, looks like **** on mine with the Charrcoal Gray Color!!!
Did it leave any blemishes in the paint when your replaced your Cashdudehomie?
