Default Scratches

I have a 2003 Avalanche (WBH) that is the Dark Grey Metallic color. It show imperfections almost as much as black. The paint is in really good shape. I had an incident at the dealership where the vehicle got keyed. They repainted the area and clear-coated both doors for me. Someone, no names mentioned (my wife), quick detailed the whole truck.

Now, there are swirls on the two doors that got re-clear-coated. I am going to wait about 5 more weeks and then polish. Is this something that I am going to be able to get out? I always polish by hand, I have no experience with a real buffer. Am I going to need to seek professional help? The swirls are not deep, just annoying.

if you *dont* have any experience with a buffer - DONT DO IT. especially on a dark color car.
i would recommend getting some high polish/swirl "remover" liquid wax- mother has a line of waxes that will improve swirl marks. its not a fix, more like a band-aid, nothing excpet a buff job will get rid of the swirls, those swirls have been "cut into" your clear.
hope this helps

You don't need to wait, modern catalyzed clears dont need curing time like older paints.

Call the guy that painted it just to make sure. I like Mcguires #9 swirl remover.

The guy that painted it said that I should wait 6 weeks to polish. I havebeen thinking about going with Meguiars Swirl Remover. Then after that follow it up with some NXT Wax. I have had good luck with it before.

Try Maguiers Scratch X. It works like a charm.

I have used it before and I totally forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. I will let some time pass and then I am back to work on it.
