Default Removing overload spring ?

I was thinking about removing the overload springs for and extra 3/4 inch drop in the back and maybe to get better traction at the track. Has anyone ever done this? Will I need different size u-bolts?

I removed mine on my 91 and my 03 - def does not drop it 3/4 inch - maybe 1/2 inch tops - does not effect ride - actually made it a little smoother - if you were hauling concrete blocks or 50 bags of mulch - it would be effected - other than that - slide it out - -

did mine. using shackles too. gave me about 3/4" or so. gives it a nice amount of rake with DJM control arms. you won't be able to haul as much if you care. get some caltracs or bars.
