Default Remove center bar from 01-02 HD grille?

Has anyone attempted to remove the center bar from and 01-02 Silverado HD grille? I plan to do the HD frontend swap and was just brainstorming about how the large opening would look. I do not have the grille yet and have not looked at one closely to see if it is even possible but here is a quick photo edit from a pic I borrowed from here to show what I am thinking...

I don't know of any aftermarket out there like that but that sure does look badass! I think a real good body guy could probably mold something similar.

That truck pictured is badass though!

I have an aftermarket one, and it's not possible. Mine is a two pc. The main grille, then the chrome center bar that goes in between the lights. I don't know about the originals.

Thanks for the info. I found it to have the same two piece design from the internet research I've done. I think it can be done with some fiberglass work but due to the price of these things new, I'm not going to cut up the one I have coming this week. If I can find one cheap at a salvage yard, I may attempt it.

The cheapest I found the grille was on ebay for $154 iirc. Most other places are in the $170 range. The cap is fairly cheap though. LMC Truck has it for $79 and their fairly competitive on the other parts as well but they seem to ding you on shipping. The Z71 valance is pricey everywhere I looked at around $160 where the regular valance is only $40 so I am sticking with it. I ended up getting all my parts from a neighbor that works at a body shop and they get all their parts from LKQ. I don't have a final price from him yet though but I am sure it will be cheaper than even ebay prices.
