IMO steel wool is going to tear into the the finish of the headers, make them rust faster then they are now.. WD 40 is a abrasive also, will help break down the coating if you rub it enough.. Jus saying. Like I said before the finish on the PS is not Jet hot, but something of lower quality. Not that its horrible, they are a decent header for the price. But the finish is no where near as durable as a good coat.. Post pics up of the headers.. I am curious to see them..

I'm goin to try and tacke this project this weekend if the wind and weather stay nice because I'll be doing it in the parking lot at my apt. If I don't get to this weekend then I'll definitely post before and after pics when I do.

When I had my engine out of the 84 GMC, I took a real fine steel wool and cleaned the dirt out of the pores of the ceramic headers on it. That was three years ago and they are still looking fine. The headers have been on that truck since the late nineties and still no rust.
