A-Pillar pod hook up?
#1
I posted this in engine and exhaust too but might get better response here.
For those of you who have A-Pillar pods, where did you run your wiring? What do you need to take off so its a little easier?
I have a boost gauge that needs to be relocated there and also a fuel and oil temp gauge too. This seems like its going to be a PITA!!
All my gauges are electronic with the exception of the Boost gauge.
Thanks all.

My wires right now just go through the weather stripping and into the engine bay in the upper portion of the fender til I can find out the best spot to drill...

Here’s what you do, take the factory pillar off put the autometer one on the stock pillar to mark the holes to drill for the push pens, put the pens in the top of the pilar so you have room to get your hand between the two pillars to pull wires once you have the gauges in the pod and the wires pulled down to the bottom put the rest of the push pins in. Now sit the pillar up where it is suppose to be, you can run the wires down through the dash where the pillar ends at the dash there is some room you can fit your hand over the far left ac vent to grab the wires. BTW you have to take the dash bezel off to access the ac vent and the ole Im talking about. Now you can run the wires over to the fuse panel to wire them up correctly. Next drill a hole down and to the left of the brake booster under the hood that way you will clear all the wiring crap under the dash. You may find it is easier to drill from the inside that is what I ended up doing but if you have a 90* adapter to put a drill bit in it will be much easier from under the hood. Next get a rubber grommet from your local hardware store to pop in there so the wires don’t rub on the sharp metal and squirt a little silicon in the hole so it doesn’t leak. You can tie into the dimmer switch for the dimmer wire for your gauges. To get power for the gauges tie into the radio fuse so the gauges will only come on when the key is on and turn off when you open the door. I took all my gauges and combined all three grounds and tied them into a 10 gauge wire and grounded it with a sheetmetal screw by the parking brake. That should be it hopefully this has helped you out more than the other post. Also can get dye from your local autoparts store to dye the plastic so it matches your interior perfect otherwise you have to use that vinyl spray paint to paint the pillar.
Good Luck
