Default Painting interior plastics??

I'm thinking about painting the dash cover and cluster bezel cover but I have some questions. Do I need to sand the plastic completely smooth (using 400 grit) like the door handles?? After painting do you spray a clear?? And how do you keep it up after its done??? THANKS!! Also I have an extra dash cover and cluster bezel cover so I can take my time doing it.

yea you need to sand it smooth. Start at 400 and work your way up. Go from low grit to high grit and wet sanding is good in high grit. I'm not really sure after this point but I think you have to fill the crack with filler and them put some kind of adhesion promoter and then primer, sand, primer, paint. I think thats it

Post up some pics when you finish the project. Just don't over do it and end up looking like the interior of a Civic. Good Luck man hope it turns out good.

Yeah, I was afraid I might overdo it thats why I think I'm only gonna do the dash cover and bezel cover. Also I have the dark charcoal interior and my external colors will be burgandy and silver, so I dont even know what colors I'm going with.

I sanded mine down about a month ago. I'll post some pics when I get the truck back this week. It sands real smooth. I started with a 400, then went up(can't remember the second one I used, but I'll check in my shop to see). I then primed it, then went over every piece with regular notebook paper(works great!). Then I primed again, and used the notebook paper. Then I used an automotive gloss black.

You might have problems with peeling and scratching if you didnt use an adhesion promotor. I think thats why the factory paint on them comes off so easily. What parts did you paint??
