I am in the same boat! Replacing the chrome on my bumpers is proving to be a nightmare!

he is talking about using different grits of sand paper. This is what i did. Sand them with 320 to take all the texture out. Thin wet sand with a 600 grit to smooth it and take the roughness out. I thin spray adhesion promoter (very important) and paint. I didnt prime mine, but u can if u want. I painted it with two coats (5 mins apart) thin i cleared them with 2 coats. The clear want fully cure for about 12-13 hours. Thin u can wet sand with 2000 grit very easy with no pressure. Thin buff and wax. Just take your time and pay attention. Paint is 90% prep 10% skill. Good luck!

spray adhension prototer..then prime it wait til dry all the way 1-3hrsthe use 180-320 prime it til all texture is gone or to your likeing, then 320 then 600 grit it smooth then water sand it smooth the seal it paint then hammer the clean to slickness or just bring it to me i do for you...and if you want your chrome bumper pain painted, you have to use 80 GRIT...till all shinness is gone, then you have to use an D/P epoxy primer...dont use the cheap stuff, epoxy anit then expensive put two coats let dry...( get ppg epoxy primer p/n dp400 dp401 dp402, you want dp400 dp401, let seat for 48hrs)then seal n paint n clear it....if its done right it wont chip or flack off.....if you want to know thing else bout painting just shoot me a PM
