Default Paint gun and buffer questions?

Looking for a paint gun and high speed variable buffer and looking for options....been looking at a few but really don't know what to get. On the paint gun, I know gravity feed is better on the paint gun but don't know what size spray needle to get and I know variable speed is the way to go but don't really know what rpms (assuming 4000-9000 rpms or around 7000 rpms for polishing after wetsanding). I know how to but just don't know the tools I used a long time ago.

Thanks.

As a starter gun I bought a Devilbliss Finishline (I think). Its worked very well. Came with 3 different tip sizes... depends on what you are painting for tip size.

I'm not a skilled buffer so opted for the porter cable orbital.

My hood painting project... may touch on the gun in it.

how much do you want to spend?? I have heard the Devilbliss guns are pretty good guns, never used them. I have only used sata and my iwata. Sata guns are way over priced IMO. If you can get a deal, go for it because they are very good guns. I prefer my iwata over the sata guns i have used, it feels much smoother, less air pressure to get the paint to lay nice. It was expensive but cheaper than a satajet 3000

If you plan on painting in the house the Devilbiss line is better than Sata. Sata requires 20 CFM to run, devilbiss only requires 9CFM.

I have been painting professionally for a few years and i use the Devilbiss Plus and the Devilbiss SRI which now can both be bought as a pair for well under $500

Check ebay.

Well...looking to primer and paint my own...yes. My brother is restoring a 1967 Camaro RS/SS original and I would like to paint a few odds and ends as I buy them.

I'll probably check out the Devilbiss then...see what they can do.

You can't go wrong with Porter Cable IMO. The biggest decision is whether to go orbital or not. Orbital is damn near impossible to ruin a paint job but slower getting the job done.

if you want an actual buffer not an orbital then go with a dewalt variable speed. I worked as an auto detailer for a while and that was the best I ever used. I always got the one with removable brushes for the motor. the wool from the pad gets in the buffer and the holes for the brushes are a good spot to blow them out so you dont have to tear it all apart
