You guys sound exactly like the voices in my head... If the entire truck were getting painted now, I would buy a primer bumper and have the whole truck color matched. But... that's just not in the budget right now. How difficult is it to paint a chrome plated bumper in the future? Or will I need to swap it out to a primer bumper for paint?
So.. what I am thinking is chrome bumper, blue cap, blue grill surround with chrome center strip and leave the mesh black. The valance would remain unpainted so it would be grey unless I could dye it a different color. The paint on it would be gone in no time with all the sand and small debris on the roads here.

 

In a lot of cases it looks cheap to me. Depends on the truck/car for bumpers but most chrome trim is tacky and I hate chrome wheels with a passion.

 

In my mind the best way to describe my opinion on chrome is I like factory chrome. The chrome that comes installed on the vehicle when ever it was built. I do not like added chrome. I am pro factory chrome on pre 2000 vehicles. Any thing newer than 2000 since most body pieces are plastic I agree chrome looks cheap.

 

Color matched if your looking for a smother look chrome for more of a luxury look IMO
