Yep oh yeah forgot to mention, i have about 20 hours into it.
it doesnt help when you have to compound the entire truck twice, because you werent trying hard enough the first time

Tomorrow i will finish detailing it and i should have some more pics of the whole thing

Looks pretty good so far. I take it you were using a rotary?

I don't want to be an ***, but you need another polishing step to get the best results. That glaze is hiding a lot of the marring that the compound & wool pad left behind and it will probably show back up after the next wash. You need to polish the truck again with a polishing pad and a finishing polish to remove the remaining swirls.

Meguiars would call it a pure polish, meaning that it contains no abrasives and won't remove marring/swirls. A glaze or pure polish is meant to increase depth/wetness when used under a caruaba wax. Because of how oily glazes usually are they also tend to fill in swirls, which hides them temporarily.

You are absolutely correct. I try to stay away from any product that has a silicone/oil base to it. Looks great at first then it washes off. Most dealer prep shops use glaze to make a vehicle look good with out alot of work involved. It's a real labor of love to make a shine that will last. That being said, the pics show a real improvement, something like the 3m finess-it white or similar product with a foam pad. Dark vehicles always take more work and effort to look good. bet when your done you'll want to carry a shoutgun around to keep birds from Shi**n on it!!!

It's a learning experience don't get frustrated to bad. Look at it this way once you get it right all you have to do is keep it up with a occasional clay/wax as long as it dosen't get any more scratches but in that case you will allready know what to do.
