Default New wheels.

I plan on picking up a new set of wheels in the near future now that I've sold my 20's. I'm going to be buying 18" Boyd Coddington Timeless 6's. What rim width do you guys suggest? 8 or 9.5? I like the 9.5's because I can run a wider tire with a lower profile but would an 8" rim work just as well? I'll be running Toyo Proxes again on these wheels too. Here are the two size tires I'm thinking about running.

18X8 - 255/55/18, tire height 29.0", width 10.4"
18X9.5 - 295/45/18, tire height 28.4, width 11.6"

Thanks for any suggestions. Also, I know this has been beat to death but I want the tire to be flush with the fender lip, not sticking past it or too far underneath it. What backspacing are you guys running for 18X8 and 18X9.5 wheels? Thanks.

Depends on your power gains and all. Neither are bad choices, but i'd say go for the 9.5" just cause i like fat tires

Another nice choice on wheels Jeff, you've got good taste . Get the 9.5 inchers but with some Nitto 555r's, that would look sick Later

I wish I could remember, but with 9.5's you will need 5.5" back space and with 8's, 5" . It's been a while since I 've looked at all that. I'm still wanting a set of those Timeless 6's. Probably my favorite wheel. Suggestion for you, paint the calipers and hub area on the rotors with those wheels since they expose a lot of the brakes. You don't want pimpin wheels and rusty calipers and rotors do you?

Thanks for the compliments. I agree with Ling_650vette because I like the width of tire you can run on the 9.5's so I'm most likely going to run them, I'm just curious if the 8" wheel and tire would work just as well. I'm also going to stick with Toyo Proxes because I really liked them on the 20's I sold to you. They grab really well.

Heck no! I've already got the rusty caliper/rotor thing covered, in powder coating that is. A guy I work with started his own powder coating business and I'm going to have him paint my calipers, might even get brave and go with red, if not red probably silver. I'm also going to pick up some of those slotted and dimpled rotors we tried getting a GP going on. I think you're right on the backspacing too, I'm just curious what everyone else is running. I have to say that the Timeless 6's are my favorite wheel. I've liked them from the first time I saw them.

Jeff, You need to buy my wheels and Tires. I'll make you a good deal on them since the tires a gettin a lil worn! Plus, you already know how they will look on your truck.

Thanks for the link. When I'm ready to buy the wheels I'll give him a call for pricing.

I always laugh when I see your truck because ours look so much alike. I think you even have the same tonneau cover that I do. Thanks for the offer on your wheels but I think I'm going to stick with the Coddingtons. I've wanted the Timeless's ever since I first saw them.

Nice selection on the wheels. I love my timeless 6s. The only thing is I wish I would have gotten the 18s instead of the 17s.
