Need some body work advice

Default Need some body work advice

alright i'm smoothing my dash this weekend and would like some help from you guys...with this said i have a background in car audio & electronics...not body work...so could one of you guys please give me some advice on where to start what grit sand papers to use and whether it's better to use a DA or by hand basically it would be nice if someone could walk me through what to do...i know i have to pick up some adhesion promoter that way i can lay the bondo to the plastic...maybe i'm wrong...THANKS TO ALL WHO REPLY!

never tried to do a dash before, but If i was to I would sand with 320 on a d/a using a foam isolater to remove most of the texture, then wash with warm soap and water, prep using an adhesive promoter,then prime several light coats of a flexable sandable primer. sanding that with 500 and then using sealer/paint color of choice.

couple coats of slick sand I believe its called will help fill in the texture.

Pretty much what SUPER said.. I would def sand off some of the texture. For 1 is so that you don't have to app so much of that filler to it, for 2 so that is opens up the pours, cuts into some to get a good base to spray the filler, adhesion promoter to.... 3 TAKE YOUR TIME...

Def not wax.. lol After you get it ruffed up, hit it with some denatured alkyhol(sp)..

wax would be bad, wax and grease remover is a mixture of alcohol i believe or some other thinner
