My Truck Got Rearended

what you are doing is ok in my book but the way you said it makes it sound bad/fraudulent. if i understand correctly you are going to take your truck to the body shop that you work at and write up the estimate yourself. then you are going to fix the body and do the work yourself after hours, right? and use the money left over buy the cowl hood and two tone paint if there is enough?
if you do this and wrote up an honest and fair estimate, nothing wrong with that

exactly.....maybe It sounded bad or whatever....but i'm doing what any other body man would do if their truck got hit. Whats the diff. in when someone hits a deer and they go to ANY shop and they want to get a cowl hood instead of a normal hood? The shop will adjust the rates on something else to make the customer happy. You might get a cowl hood for 100 bucks extra than what the insurance company is paying for.

Don't see anything wrong with upgrading as long as you're not doing it fradulantly. My Z-71 got wrecked in the front and instead of putting the LS grille and hood back on, I went with a chrome Tahoe grille and HD hood. It cost me like $50 extra.
