Default mirror housings all the same?

My truck has power (glass) adjust, heated glass, turn indicators in the glass, and auto dimming.

I want to paint match the housings but can't afford to have the truck down for weeks while I do the project (will be done in free time...school starts up next week).

What I'm wondering is if I can just find a pair of used housings (perhaps with broken or missing glass) on ebay, do the sanding, preping, and painting to. After the housings are done, just swap my mirrors "guts" into those housings.

Yes/No?

I'm pretty sure they changed the connections in 03+ so as long as they are from and 03 on up they will bolt right in.

I plan on painting my as well but I was just going to buy a set of fully manual mirrors and put them on my truck, use them until my current mirrors were all sanded down and painted...I think swapping the internal parts of the mirrors is makin the job a little tougher than it needs to be...when I was done painting, I was just going to resell the manual mirrors...

Don't think it would be a problem. The housing should be the same since all the electronics are inside.

Heres a link about wiring up the mirrors and some diagrams about the connections. 03+ have a different plug than the 99-02's.http://gmfullsize.com/forum/showthre...ng+puddle+lamp
