Default Mileage programming for new I/P gauge clusters

OK, this I know for sure: the mileage is stored in the cluster and the BCM for the 99-02 models. (I've seen this posted and the dealership confirmed this for me)

For those of you who have bought new clusters AND had your mileage programmed into it:

1) how much did the dealership charge you?
2) did they just need the cluster or did they need to have the truck as well?

Thanks for feedback.

GM specmo does the programing for GM. They would need the new cluster sent in along with the old one. I think it cost around $80 bucks plus S&H.

I was going through the same issues, I never found a dealership that would do it or want to have anything to do with it. Some even started quoting that this was against federal law and that BLAH, BLAH.......

I found a place in Dallas, TX Autocraft Electronics, they are an AC Delco certified repair shop and they will do it for 45 bucks but you have to send both clusters in for transfer, so you will be without your truck for a few days. But they have same day turnaround, so if you ship ups next day, you should have in a couple days. If you want the number to this place pm me.

When I put the SS cluster in my 03 I had my local dealer send out the cluster to have my mileage programmed in. The dealer was charged $43.75 for the programming service and that is how much that they charged me.
