Re: lowering 2/4 questions
I'm running stock length Monroe revos' (or something like that) on the front. It's only the second set I've had on the truck (71k). That's with the 3" drop on the front. Mine rides as well as stock. Still running the airshocks out back with the extension brackets.

Re: lowering 2/4 questions
The smoothest ride is to use 2" lower control arms and drop shackles/hangers in the rear. I went with springs in front and SH/HG rear and it rides pretty damn stiff. Smooth roads are ok but if you get in the rough roads it will beat ya proper. Thats with Nitro drop shocks. Also need a front end alignment to really help smooth it out.

Re: lowering 2/4 questions
what if you went with the 2" control arms and 2" springs? that would give ya 4" total front lowering correct? and then if i went with the 4" lower leafs and leave my 2" shacles (actually gave about an inch though) on it would probably look decent and still handle a bunch better.

You would be suprised at how many people forget to pull the front and rear bumpstops out. That will make a stiff ride. Matt, I got the 3" drop because they sent the wrong springs and I didn't want to send them back on my dime for their mistake. That's AIM for you.

Re: lowering 2/4 questions
If you are looking for the best HANDLING setup then I would personally go with the Hotchkis 2/4 and Edelbrock IAS shocks (this is the setup I run).
I live in Los Angeles and the roads out here are SUPER CRAPPY but I dont really mind the rough ride. I just need to not drive like a maniac forgetting I drive a lowered truck. The handling performance/benefits far outweigh any rough ride issues I have.
Hotchkis and Edelbrock make quality stuff! You cant go wrong with this setup.

Re: lowering 2/4 questions
hell, the roads here HAVE to be just as bad as any shitty roads anywhere else. they SUCK!!! and my truck rides pretty rough as it is but it's not TOOO bad. i think it's gonna be the hotchkis 2/4 with HALS all around and cal tracs maybe later on, and probably a sway bar setup.

Re: lowering 2/4 questions
i've pretty much concluded that i'll go with the hotchkis 2/4 but it's the shock decision that's got me now. i would LOVE to go with HALS, but the price is starting to detur me. maybe just hals in the back and the KYBs i have in the front already???
