how much would it be to fix a scratch about 1-2feet long?

 

they usually have to paint whole panels, i have an ext cab, and mine got keyed up from fender to fender and it was just shy of a grand, they had to paint all the panels on th driver side.

 

The cheepest estimate I got for that was $300. I just went out and bought the Dupli-Color paint (that is in the fingernail polish type tube) and touched up my truck. I had two nasty scratches near my taillight and the touch-up did quite well for a quick fix. The key to using that touch-up paint is to use a fine paint brush (like artists use) and lightly apply the paint, otherwise that paint can glob up and when it hardens it almost will not come off.

 

Is it through to the primer/metal, or just the clearcoat?

For a single panel (depends which panel due to size) blended into the 2 panels on either side, you're looking at around $550.

 

if it is just the clearcoat. i would use alot of meguiars Scratch X, i had some scratches from when i used a damn metal striper on my emblems. after the Scratch X some polish and wax the scratch just isnt there.

 

its just on the driver side fender, about 2ft long... the average white scratch
